Restylane Fills In Facial Wrinkles Without SurgeryResults Last Up To 1 Year. From the Kansas City Channel <URL> KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The hit ABC show "Extreme Makeovers" has many viewers dreaming about the possibilities of cosmetic surgery. But is there an easier way? Some doctors say an injectable gel recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration fills in wrinkles like no other product. Melody Copper, 56, is no stranger to cosmetic procedures. She has already had an upper-eye lift and a forehead lift. Now, she's focusing on the rest of her face. "I saw puppet lines, as we call them, and it's very distracting to me," Copper said. Copper is getting rid of her distractions with Restylane, a natural product with FDA approval as cosmetic filler, KMBC's Kelly Eckerman reported. Dr. Dean Kane, a Baltimore cosmetic surgeon who performs Restylane injections in his office, says the product is different from Botox, which paralyzes muscles. "Restylane gives you shape, definition and volume," he said. "It's called a NASHA product -- which is non-animal, hylronic acid -- so it's very safe, natural and non-allergenic." Kane performed the procedure on Copper, who seemed satisfied with the results. The cost of Restylane varies, depending on how much is needed, but $650 per syringe is to be expected. The results last about six months. Treatment of wrinkles and folds lasts about one year. |
